I love weddings, I truly do. I work really hard to find something positive in every wedding day that reminds me why I love them. But these two are the most amazing picture of why I do what I do.
When Emily first contacted me, I knew we would be fast friends, due to the people we mutually knew. I sat down with her and Ryan for coffee before we started their engagement session, just to get to know them a bit. Close to two hours later, we realized we had spent more time talking than we would spend actually taking the photos. I'm not sure if I've ever had such an instant connection with a couple. They came prepared with some amazing questions for me, wanting to know my story, why I love what I do, what makes my heart beat faster.
They are two of the kindest, most loving, engaging people I have ever met. When they look at you, they actually see you. There is so much of Jesus woven into their story, and into their character, separately and as a couple. When Emily and I met up for coffee to plan out the timeline for her wedding day, I ended up in tears because of the way she encouraged me, the way she spoke truth into my life. She's the kind of person that takes notes so she remembers what to pray for you, and you firmly believe what she's praying for you will happen, because her relationship with the Lord is so sweet. Because of the love that they show for others, and the way Jesus radiates through them, I literally counted down the days until their wedding day. It is the most beautiful to thing to start a relationship on a business level, and truly know you'll continue it with a deep friendship.
Their wedding day was perfect, smooth and calm and full of so much laughter. Their bridal party was such a blast (they sang and danced the entire day), their families were so kind and welcoming, and their first look was one of the sweetest I've ever seen. Right before the ceremony, we took time for them to sit for a moment and be prayed over, surrounded by their family and bridal party. Of course, in true Emily and Ryan fashion, they turned it around and prayed over and for their people, choosing to make their wedding day a day of thankfulness for the people who have supported their relationship. They prayed for salvation, and for nothing but the glory of God to be the focus of their day. On top of all of this, they threw potentially the craziest, sweatiest, most amazing dance party I've ever been involved in... these people know how to celebrate.
Emily and Ryan, "thank you" will never be enough, but thank you. Thank you for seeing me, for speaking truth in and over my life, for loving me and others so extremely well. I am absolutely honored to have been a part of your day and to call you friends. You've reminded me why I do what I do, and for that I will be forever grateful. Love you much.
